ABUSE CLAIMS DROPPED IN DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES LAWSUIT
Former “Desperate Housewives” star Nicollette Sheridan (who played the devious, man-eater Edie Britt from 2004 to 2009) has dropped allegations of emotional and physical abuse from a $20 million lawsuit she filed against the show’s creator, Marc Cherry, in April 2010. Sheridan originally claimed that Cherry “forcefully hit her with his hand across her face and head” during a September 2008 rehearsal. Sheridan was also suing for wrongful termination and gender discrimination because, she says, her character was killed off in retaliation for complaining about Cherry’s alleged hostile behavior to network executives. In exchange for the actress dropping her abuse claims, both ABC and Cherry have agreed not to ask Sheridan to submit to physical or psychiatric analysis as part of their defense strategy. Claims of wrongful termination remain unsettled. Legal wrangling aside, do you miss Edie stirring up trouble on “Desperate Housewives”?
