HEROES CREATOR JOINS FORCES WITH JACK BAUER

hero24

“Every once in a while, you encounter a piece of material that you just cannot say no to,” former 24 star Kiefer Sutherland said on the heels of an announcement by FOX that the network had officially ordered 13 episodes of Touch – a new series by Heroes creator Tim Kring.

“Touch is another ambitious series from Tim Kring that is beautifully executed and has incredibly resonant themes for our times,” said Kevin Reilly, the network’s president of entertainment. “With Kiefer back on the network as the face and force behind this creative new series, I’m confident it will resonate with viewers this spring.”

Sutherland will play Martin Bohm, a widower and single father, haunted by an inability to connect to his mute 11-year-old son, Jake. After multiple failed attempts at keeping Jake in school, Martin is visited by a social worker sent to evaluate Jake’s well being. Everything changes when Martin discovers that Jake possesses the gift of staggering genius – the ability to see things that no one else can and the patterns that connect seemingly unrelated events.

Jake is indeed communicating – but it’s not with words, it’s with numbers. Martin meets Arthur Dewitt (played by Danny Glover), a professor and an expert on children who possess special gifts. It’s up to Martin to decipher the meaning.

The series will begin airing in spring 2012.

Fans of Kring’s breakthrough series, Heroes, should check out VIP Fan Auctions for screen-used props and wardrobe items, including the Isaac Mendez Homecoming painting of Hiro and Ando, one of Claire Bennett’s cheerleader uniforms – and much, much more! Bid today!

FNL COMING TO A THEATER NEAR YOU?

Like Arrested Development, 24 and Veronica Mars, add Friday Night Lights to the list of former television series with hopes of returning on the big screen. While Friday Night Lights actually started out as a feature film before finding a second incarnation on television, the show’s executive producer peter Berg isn’t ready to say goodbye to the good folks of Dillon, Texas.

“We’re writing a script. We’ve been meeting with [executive producer] Jason Katims the last couple of weeks,” Berg said during the Television Critics Association press tour. “We have a real good script idea. We want to do it. We’re very serious about doing it and we intend to do it.”

Would you like to see Friday Night Lights return on the big screen? Tell us what you think – and check out the Friday Night Lights props and wardrobe items available right now at VIP Fan Auctions!

RUNNING WITH JACK BAUER

run

Mark Cooper of Edinburgh, Scotland, will attempt to set a world record for the longest run on a treadmill – 161 miles – in one day. To do it, Cooper plans to have CTU agent Jack Bauer to keep him company by watching a complete season as he puts one foot in front of the other. “I’m going to use all the tricks and ideas I can come up with to try and get through,” Cooper told the Scottish website STV. “One of the tricks I’m going to use to actually get through it is I’ve got every episode of 24 for one series, so in 24 hours I should just be able to watch the whole series and that’ll be me at the end on Friday night.” Cooper, 28, an elite runner who ran 50 marathons across Europe in 56 days last year, will also reportedly be raising money for Funding Neuro, a charity dedicated to funding research for neurological disorders. The current record holder is Arulanantham Suresh Joachim who ran 160.24 miles on a treadmill in Canada in 2004. 24 STAR NAMED ONE OF HOLLYWOOD’S BEST

ks

If you didn’t already recognize Kiefer Sutherland as one of the best actors working today (though we’d like to see him working on a 24 movie soon!), Screen Junkies has made it official by ranking the 24 star at No. 4 – just after action legend Charles Bronson (3) and ahead of 300’s Gerard Butler (5) – on its Top 10 list of Hollywood’s top actors. The site writes of Sutherland: “From playing a mullet-haired vampire in The Lost Boys to a detective in 24, Kiefer proves he has his daddy’s talent-and plenty of his own attitude-to stand the test of time.” The list was weighted heavily toward action – Sylvester Stallone took top honors (though Arnold Schwarzenegger was absent from the list) – which is just fine with us. And since we’re celebrating Sutherland’s Bauer Power – don’t let the clock run out on a one-of-a-kind opportunity to own a shirt Sutherland wore on-screen during Season Eight of 24 (episode 9:00 a.m. – 10 a.m.) from VIP Fan Auctions. The auction ends July 26 – and so far, this piece of TV history is still available at an incredibly reasonable price. Click here for more information or to place your bid today!

NOBODY DOES IT BAUER

Jack
During an interview with Deadline.com to mark their 25 years together as two of Hollywood’s most prolific producing partners, Ron Howard and Brian Grazer were asked to recall their first memories of various television series – which include Friday Night Lights, Arrested Development and 24 – and films – which include Apollo 13, A Beautiful Mind and 8 Mile – their company, Imagine Entertainment, has produced. When asked what he remembers most about 24, Grazer said: “Kiefer Sutherland and how not only did he play Jack Bauer more successfully than anyone else could have, but proved himself to be a surprisingly talented television producer who took charge and demonstrated taste and discipline. And we’re working on that 24 feature.” He did not mention the other hotly anticipated TV-to-film adaptation, Arrested Development. For your own memories of 24, check out screen-worn wardrobe items (including a bunch of things worn by Kiefer Sutherland) and props from the series at VIP Fan Auctions.

PAGING AGENT BAUER, AGENT JACK BAUER

Bauer hospital
It’s not uncommon to see Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) beaten, bloodied or facing certain death, but seeing him in a hospital bed seems… too human. But that’s where the roughest, toughest CTU agent on the planet spent the final minutes of 24′s seventh season (between 7 -8 a.m.) clinging to life, but resigned to the fact that this might be the end of it. It was a powerful scene (Kim Bauer arrived without a cougar) and a memorable cliffhanger, which makes the hospital scrubs Jack wore during the final minutes of the season all the more epic. VIP Fan Auctions is offering the hospital duds to one serious 24 fan who wins the bidding war when the auction comes to a close on June 21. Check out the details of the auction and place your bid on this piece of television – no, make that American – history.

THE SEASON THAT CHANGED TELEVISION

24season1
The first season of 24 was truly groundbreaking. Not only did it offer a unique real-time format, but it also seemed to capture the post-9/11 world in real time as well when it debuted in November 2001. For fans of the show, television in general or historians, the complete set of shooting scripts from 24’s first season – along with some additional CTU swag to keep the spirit of Jack Bauer alive. Check out the complete set at VIP Fan Auctions and place your bid today. The auction ends June 7.

"HEROES" CREATOR, SUTHERLAND TEAMING FOR "TOUCH"

Jack is back…well, sort of…

“24” star Kiefer Sutherland will star in a Fox pilot, “Touch” by Heroes creator Tim Kring. The show will start production later this month and is tabbed as a mid-season replacement on the network’s fall schedule. Sutherland committed to the project back in February, but he’s currently starring in the Broadway production of “That Championship Season”.

Touch has a somewhat “Heroes”-type feel, following a group of seemingly unrelated characters – beginning with a former firefighter tormented by his inability to save a dying woman, an Iraqi teenager who will go to great risks to help his family, a gifted singer whose actions at a karaoke bar save lives thousands of miles away and a British businessman desperately trying to retrieve a key piece of information from his lost mobile phone – who affect each other in ways seen and unseen.

At the center of the series is Sutherland’s character, Martin Bohn, whose severely autistic 10-year-old son, Jake, never allows himself to be touched by anyone. The plot lynchpin is when Martin discovers that Jake, although mute, can predict events before they happen using numerical patterns to communicate…and, in the process, tying together the fates of the “seemingly unrelated” characters.

The pilot is Kring’s first since Heroes. He’s joined by Executive Producers Peter Chernin and Katherine Pope (Breakout Kings).

JACK BAUER STYLE

With very few wardrobe changes throughout a season of 24, almost all of Jack Bauer’s clothing items become iconic of the particular season in which he wears them. Season 6 is no different, and the Carhartt jacket that Kiefer Sutherland wore while hunting down missing suitcase nukes, circuit boards, and his treasonous family is available to the highest bidder (and currently at a surprisingly low price) on the VIP Fan Auctions website. Click here to check out the details and place your bid on a piece of 24 history. The auction ends May 10.

24 MOVIE IS ON!

A little bird tells us Jack will be back

Imagine Entertainment super-producer Brian Grazer confirmed on April 5 via Twitter that the 24 movie is on for 2012!

Here’s what he tweeted: Got off the phone Kiefer yesterday and we are very excited about producing the 24 movie for next year.

While 24 star Kiefer Sutherland has remained steadfast that the 24 movie would become a reality, several reported false starts had fans wondering if they’d seen the last of Jack Bauer. Having Grazer, whose production company (with Ron Howard) produced the TV series, on board is a great sign that Jack will save the world at least one more time.

Check out VIPFanAuctions to bid on several remaining props and screen-worn wardrobe items from the 24 TV show.
