FNL BOSS TO REPRISE ROLE

mo

Producer/director/actor Peter Berg, who brought Friday Night Lights to television and will direct the big-screen continuation of the series, says he will reprise his role as real estate mogul – and Tami Taylor’s ex-boyfriend – Mo McArnold. Berg told Digital Spy that the character, who appeared in the second-season episode “May the Best Man Win,” will be “madder and richer than ever.” The Berg-directed Battleship, the big-budget action film based on the popular board game, hits theaters May 18. The film also stars FNL alum Taylor Kitsch. Fans of the series still have an opportunity to own a piece of Friday Night Lights by bidding on wardrobe items worn on-screen by the cast. Current auctions include wardrobe items from Kyle Chandler (who plays Coach Taylor), Aimee Teegarden (Julie Taylor), Jesse Plemons (who pays Landry Clarke) and many more! TAYLOR KITSCH IS READY FOR 'BATTLE'

ki

Taylor Kitsch’s mega-budget Mars spectacle John Carter may not have rocked the box office like a Tim Riggins hit rocks opposing quarterbacks, but Friday Night Lights fans don’t have to worry about the breakout star’s burgeoning film career. Kitsch returns to theaters this summer for another major action release – Battleship (pictured above) – in which he re-teams with Friday Night Lights executive producer Peter Berg, who directs the high-seas thriller. After that, Kitsch stars in the Oliver Stone drama Savages, opposite Hollywood heavyweights John Travolta and Benicio Del Toro. In other words, like Johnny Depp, Robin Williams and George Clooney, Kitsch remains on the verge of becoming a major film star, and fans still have an opportunity to own a piece of the show that started it all! A shirt worn on-screen by Kitsch in the series is available now at the Friday Night Lights page at VIP Fan Auctions. You’ll also find screen-worn wardrobe items from other cast members, including Connie Britton (Tami Taylor) and Minka Kelly (Lyla Garrity) and more! THE FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS STORY IS NOT OVER

fnl

“We’re not done with Friday Night Lights,” executive producer Peter Berg told MTV News earlier this month. He explained that the script for a new Friday Night Lights film by FNL executive producer Jason Katims is nearly complete, and Berg (who will direct the film) indicated that one storyline would see Coach Eric Taylor (played by Kyle Chandler) mirror the headline-grabbing story of former Texas Tech football coach Mike Leach.

“[Katims] has come up with a really great storyline that parallels what happened to Mike Leach, one of my heroes, a coach at Texas Tech who was unjustly fired and unjustly accused of mistreating a player with a concussion, which was proven to not have been the case. He’s now at Washington State getting ready for what I think will be a great redemption story,” Berg told MTV. “It would be critical that we get Kyle (Chandler) and Connie (Britton) [onboard for the film] — we anchored the show around them — and then bring in Riggins, Tyra, Lyla and all other characters as we could get them. But the idea is to really revolve it around the coach.”

Leach appeared in a 2009 FNL episode “After the Fall,” in which he delivered a pep talk to Coach Taylor.

As fans eagerly await the FNL film, there are a number of wardrobe items from the series currently available at the Friday night Lights page at VIP Fan Auctions. Each item was worn on-screen – including a robe worn by Kyle Chandler, a sweater worn by Minka Kelly (who played Lyla Garrity), a shirt worn by Connie Britton (who played Tami Taylor). There is also plenty of Dillon Panthers gear available. Check out all of the FNL auctions by clicking here – and place your bid today!

FNL’S MOST FASCINATING

b

Popular entertainment news website TheWrap, released its list of the five most fascinating characters on television in 2011. Not surprisingly, Friday Night Lights’ Tami Taylor (played by Connie Britton) ranked third on the list. “The delicate push-pull between Tami and Eric Taylor was always the heart of NBC and DirecTV’s beautiful “Friday Night Lights,” which concluded this year,” said TheWrap. “It came to a head during a tense family dinner in the final episode, as Coach Taylor tried to explain to their daughter why she was too young to marry. As he firmly explained that marriage is about compromise, Tami (Connie Britton) had to leave: The speech belied her husband’s refusal to move for the sake of her career.” Britton currently stars in FX’s American Horror Story, but fans can still hold on to a piece of the actress’ brilliant run as the coach’s wife. Several pieces of her screen-worn jewelry and wardrobe items, including a shirt and skirt outfit worn in the third-season episode “Keeping up Appearances” (pictured above), a sleeveless top worn in the second-season premiere “Last Days of Summer,” a V-neck sweater worn in Season 2’s “Jumping the Gun,” and a scoop-neck sweater worn in the first season’s “Ch-Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes.” Check out these and other Friday Night Lights props and wardrobe auctions – while they last – at VIP Fan Auctions.

FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS MOVIE CONFIRMED

tam

If the coach’s wife says it’s going to happen, you can bet that Friday Night Lights will be returning to the big screen. Though the series ended its television run earlier this year, stellar acting, heartfelt storylines and a passionate fan base won’t let the FNL franchise slip away. “It’s happening for realsies,” Connie Britton (who plays Tami Taylor), told Us Weekly. “Pete [Berg] is totally fired up to do it and I know Jason Katims is talking about writing a script. I think it’s really a matter of…getting everyone’s busy schedules aligned and making it happen,” Britton told the magazine.

Britton added; “It’s so funny to hear [from fans]: ‘Do you think they’ll do a movie version of Friday Night Lights?’ and in the back of my mind I’m like, ‘You do realize there already is a movie of it?’ I was actually in that one too!’”

While you wait for the return of FNL, check out the screen-used props and wardrobe items – including a Dillon Panthers championship ring, Tim Riggins’ No. 33 sweatshirt, Tami Taylor’s jewelry – and much more. Check out the selection and place your bid at VIP Fan Auctions today!

THE HORROR! SYLAR RETURNS TO TV

syl

When American Horror Story – the new series by Glee executive producers Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk – debuts Oct. 5 on FX, the spooky series will feature a number of familiar faces – and herald the television return of Heroes’ baddie Zachary Quinto (who played Sylar, pictured above). The Hollywood Reporter says Quinto will play the recurring role of Chad, a former owner of the haunted mansion now owned by Dylan McDermott (The Practice) and Connie Britton (Friday Night Lights). Writer Tim Minear (The X-Files, Angel, Firefly, Dollhouse and numerous other series with major cool cred) has also joined the series. Quinto’s character will debut in the first of a two-part Halloween episode. Fans of Quinto (or FNL’s Connie Britton, for that matter) should check out the screen-worn wardrobe items (including a full outfit from season three – complete with Hail to the Chief apron) available now at VIP Fan Auctions (as well as other Heroes cast members).

FNL star helps Texas fire depts

c

Kyle Chander, the actor who played Coach Eric Taylor for five stellar seasons on Friday Night Lights, is lending his time and talent to support Texas volunteer fire department, which have been drained by a season of intense drought and wildfires. The actor recently taped a series of “We Care” public service announcements that will begin airing this fall to help raise money for – and encourage participation in – volunteer fire departments. “Kyle is stepping up in a big way to help raise funds and awareness for volunteer fire departments all across our state,” says Chris Barron, Executive Director of the State Firemen’s and Fire Marshals’ Association of Texas. “We’re thrilled to have the added star power to draw additional attention to a critical cause.” If you’re a fan of Kyle Chandler, you might also want to check out the East Dillon Lions Football tee-shirt the actor wore on-screen – it’s available for auction at VIP Fan Clubs.
