A prequel to The Godfather is reportedly being penned by author Ed Falco for a 2012 release. According to Entertainment Weekly, the book will be titled The Family Corleone, and it is being published with permission (and support) of the estate of Mario Puzo, who wrote The Godfather in 1969. The story will be set in depression-era New York “before the Corleones rise to power” and tells the story of how Vito Corleone “fought to survive in the brutal criminal underworld to become the influential and respected Don in The Godfather.”
