IN DEFENSE OF MRS. DRAPER
During a Dec. 16 interview at New York City’s 92nd Street Y (the Young Men’s and Young Women’s Hebrew Association) in front of a live audience of “Mad Men” fans, series creator Thomas Weiner found himself defending the honor of Betty Draper (played by January Jones). When the interviewer, Fordham University law professor and novelist Thane Rosenbaum, said he found the controversial character “loathsome,” Weiner came to Betty’s defense. “I want to defend her because I’m very close to (Betty Draper),” Weiner said, noting that the character reminds him of his own mother. What do you think of Betty Draper? Love her? Hate her? Love to hate her?
