Sometimes life should not imitate art

A 21-year-old Minnesota man who says he was inspired by Dexter to become a well-known serial killer has been ruled mentally ill and ordered to undergo psychiatric care. Andrew Busskohl targeted people he believed to have committed crimes but escaped punishment and plotted their murders, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune. Busskohl was convicted in June 2009 for plotting to kill and dismember his neighbor. He also reportedly picked names from the phone book and plotted to kill them. “This is a 21-year-old kid who scares us all,” Washington County attorney Peter Orput told the newspaper. Note to anyone else inspired by Dexter: Please seek help. Seriously.
