One of the oddest elements of the complete insanity that transpires over the grisly course of The Belko Experiment is the seemingly innocuous of a corn cob doll. The quirky little prop is introduced early as Mike, one of the Belko employees, sits distracted in his car, when an elderly local woman suddenly – and startlingly – pushes the corn cob doll she’s selling into frame. Of course, the action only gets stranger and bloodier as the day goes on, but don’t miss this chance to own one of the most distinctive – and weird – props in horror movie history! VIP Fan Auctions is offering the screen-used corn cob doll from The Belko Experiment to the fan who casts the winning bid. Click here for photos and more information – and place your bid today!
Life in cubicles has never been as dangerous as it is in The Belko Experiment – perhaps the bloodiest horror film of the 21st century. When a voice over the intercom in a high-rise office building orders workers to kill or be killed, the situation quickly devolves into a deadly game where only the strongest – and best armed – will survive. When office supplies are weaponized, the results are nothing short of grisly, and VIP Fan Auctions is offering several of the implements to the slasher-film fans who cast the winning bids. Currently available is a set of butcher knives specially rigged for visual effects (no actors were harmed in the filming of The Belko Expeirment, we think) wielded on-screen by John C. McGinley’s Wendell Dukes, including the knife itself and three partial blades to give the illusion of being driven into a victim (click here for photos and more information). Also available is a deadly wrench and prop rebar rods used in the film by maintenance men Bud and Lonny (also included is Bud’s ID badge sticker, click here for photos and information). The Belko Experiment Prop Auction starts March 17th at www.belkoexperimentauction.com with the movie’s theatrical release. The weekly auctions will feature screen used props and wardrobe items from James Gunn’s anticipated thriller. The Belko Experiment is a movie that James Gunn states came to him in a dream and explores “a twisted social experiment, where 80 Americans are locked in their high-rise corporate office in Bogotá, Colombia and ordered by an unknown voice coming from the company’s intercom system to participate in a deadly game of kill or be killed”.
Many of the props are usual everyday office objects that have been utilized as deadly weapons of survival. The movie features fan favorites, Michael Rooker (Guardians of the Galaxy), Tony Goldwyn (Scandal), Adria Arjona (Emerald City), John C. McGinley (Scrubs) and Mikaela Hoover (Guardians of the Galaxy).
The Belko Experiment hits theaters March 17th. Go see the movie and then check out the auctions at www.belkoexperimentauction.com.
James Gunn’s big project this year, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 may be getting all of the media attention at the moment, but Gunn also produced/wrote a small indie film several years ago titled The Belko Experiment, which is now getting a lot of attention from the release of the first trailer. The film is finally coming to the big screen after all of the behind the scenes work by Gunn and his crew. New photos were also released for the film, which hits theaters March 17.
James Gunn released the trailer on his own Youtube page, which starts out by showcasing some of the employees of Belko, a non-profit organization that facilitates companies in South America. While it seems like your typical office job, that changes with a simple announcement. From there the employees think it is simply a prank, but soon realize they have almost no control over the fate of their lives. They are all trapped in an insane social experiment that will bring everyone against each other creating an everyman for themselves environment.
The cast for the film looks fantastic including Tony Goldwyn, John C. McGinley, Adria Arjona, Josh Brener and Michael Rooker (Guardians of the Galaxy). From the trailer it looks very interesting, but I am curious to see if Guardians of the Galaxy fans will come out to see one of Gunn’s passion projects that is very different from Guardians of the Galaxy. Time will tell, but for now check out the red band trailer for The Belko Experiment and let us know what you think.
James Gunn is best known for his role as director of Guardians of the Galaxy and he will be directing the second one as well. Although, before you get a chance to see Guardians of the Galaxy 2, Gunn will be the writer and producer of a film with a completely different feel.
The Belko Experiment is scripted by James Gunn and directed by Wolf Creek helmer Greg McLean, the film takes the intensity of The Hunger Games and throws it all into an everyday office. Below is the full synopsis from the film’s debut at TIFF earlier this year:
“It at first seems to be an ordinary morning on the job for a group of Americans working for a not-for-profit in a modern office building in Colombia. After noticing that their Colombian colleagues have not arrived for work, office worker Mike (John Gallagher, Jr.) spots some unfamiliar security guards entering a large hangar nearby. Moments later, an icy voice comes over the building’s PA system and calmly explains that the employees must kill a certain number of their co-workers — if not, they will be killed themselves. While the boss (Tony Goldwyn) tries to calm the troops, Mike belatedly realizes that something truly sinister is going on — and when metal doors come sliding down on all the building’s exits and windows, it becomes clear that friends and colleagues are now suddenly enemies in a bloody and brutal battle to the death.”
The Belko Experiment will surely bring out the worst in people and let’s just say the employees will get to know each other on a much more personal level than before. The short teaser shows the start of the experiment as a voice over the intercom asked for all of their full attention while they are being locked into the office.
The Belko Experiment premieres March 17, 2017. Be sure to stay tuned into VIP Fan Auctions for more information about the movie and the auctions.
Greg McClean, the series creator and director of the upcoming theatrical feature film The Belko Experiment and creator of the new Wolf Creek series shares in this exclusive clip the influence of Stephen King. Horror literature God and pop culture mainstay Stephen King has inspired and influenced millions of horror fans around the world. When you think of horror literature you think of king.
McClean directed the original Wolf Creek back in 2005 and throughout his career he has shown that he is the hero of contemporary “Ozploitation” filmmaking. The clip shows that he wouldn’t be who he is today without the influence of Stephen King and Wolf Creek might not be a thing at all. In the clip, McClean talks a lot about how Stephen King was an expert at making the audience believe the story was real and that is where the real fear comes from. Hopefully McClean can execute this strategy in his upcoming film The Belko Experiment.
The Belko Experiment comes out next year, March 17, 2017.
