There are few weapons manufacturers that give the general public a warm-and-fuzzy feeling, but Tetravaal does build a darn fine robot (and with a little tweaking and uploading, even Tetravaal products can be humanized). Of course, the special effects manufacturers at WETA have a lot to do with the look and feel of the Tetravaal Scout robots featured in CHAPPiE, which translates to a phenomenal opportunity for SFX fanatics looking to reverse engineer some WETA handiwork. VIP Fan Auctions is offering a set of assembly line Scout parts straight from the Neill Blomkamp film to the fan who casts the winning bid. The parts include components from Scout robots and CHAPPiE parts, including pieces of head, torso, arms, legs and waist. Click here for a detailed listing – and photos – of the pieces. The winner of this auction will also receive a Tetravaal Pelican 1740 storage case. If you’re interested in sci-fi, special effects and creating cool stuff, don’t delay – this auction is ending soon!

Taking its name from Neill Blomkamp’s 2004 short film “Tetra Vaal” – about a police robot that patrols the slums of Johannesburg – which set the stage for CHAPPiE. In the feature film, Tetravaal is the weapons and tactical robot manufacturer that develops and produces police robots, one of which is imbued with artificial intelligence and become the self-aware CHAPPiE. VIP Fan Auctions is offering fans an official Tetravaal corporate banner featured on-screen in the film – a 64 x 48-in. flag featuring the Tetravaal rocket logo and the name of the company. Legendary New Zealand-based visual effects powerhouse WETA is responsible for creating some of the greatest moments in modern science fiction. And while state-of-the-art digital effects can bring new worlds to life, it takes a special, old-school kind of FX guru to create the little, gruesome details that stick with viewers long after the credits roll. WETA is able to walk tall in both worlds – and VIP Fan Auctions has proof. The site is offering a pair of WETA-created disembodied arms featured on-screen in CHAPPiE to the special-effects fanatic who casts the winning bid. Meticulously designed to freak out anyone who unknowingly comes across them, the arms are created from a ballistics gel material with plastic bones, forearm hair and just enough stage blood to look completely realistic. It was while listening to his favorite band – South African rapper-ravers Die Antwoord, that writer/director Neill Blomkamp was struck with the inspiration for CHAPPiE. The link between the music and the film was so strong, in fact, that Blomkamp cast Die Antwoord bandmates Yolandi Visser and Ninja to play themselves in the film. They essentially become CHAPPiE’s “mommy” and “daddy” as the robot is made self-aware, and fans became aware of Die Antwoord in the process. VIP Fan Auctions is now offering the Die Antwoord metal shield logo featured on-screen in CHAPPiE. Click here to see a photo of this unique prop that links science fiction and music.
CHAPPiE thinks for himself and, along with that, has his own sense of style. In the robot’s South African danger zone, that means unmistakable graffiti on his components as a sort of robotic tattoo. These distinctive spray-painted CHAPPiE pieces are now available to one ambitious fan interested in assembling his or her own “Scout 22” robot. VIP Fan Auctions is offering a collection of WETA-created parts, including graffiti-covered CHAPPiE head, torso and arm components – as well as numerous other generic scout assembly-line pieces straight from Tetravaal. One of the keys to a long life is to avoid messing with a woman who carries a pink uzi. Case in point: South African rapper/raver Yolandi Visser – playing herself as a gangster in CHAPPiE – who helps kidnap, “mother” and teach the titular robot to fight for her crew and think for himself. The pink BPX uzi she uses on-screen in CHAPPiE is now available at VIP Fan Auctions to the fan – human or machine – who casts the winning bid. Click here for photos and more information on this unique – and adorably deadly – piece of Hollywood prop weaponry today. But act fast because this auction is ending soon!
