A PIRATE’S LIFE

Black Sails remains the most addictive and intense high-seas tale ever to plunder television. The Starz series is also responsible for bringing a new generation of readers to Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic novel Treasure Island simply for a glimpse into the future of Black Sails stalwarts like Long John Silver and Billy Bones – two key figures in the pirate rebellion. VIP Fan Auctions is offering fans of Black Sails a chance to claim a piece of the groundbreaking series by offering daggers wielded on-screen by several pirate legends – including the dagger of Captain Flint (Toby Stephens), a blade used on-screen by Charles Vane (Zach McGowan), a weapon of choice that belonged to the cut-throat Anne Bonny (Clara Paget), Blackbeard’s (Ray Stevenson) deadly steel and a gold-handled knife used by Jack Rackham (Toby Schmitz). LITTLE DITTY ‘BOUT JACK AND ANNE

There may be no couple more loyal to each other than Captain Jack Rackham (Toby Schmitz) and shipmate Anne Bonny (Clara Paget) on Black Sails. The pirate pair are true partners in life and on the high seas – and they know each other well enough to “read between the lines” without writing in secret code, simply by knowing what the other would think and do in any given situation. Case in point: When Jack writes Anne a letter informing her that the Governor has figured out their plan and to return to Nassau for a pardon (see above), she instinctively knows to do the exact opposite – and he instinctively knows that she will do just that. It’s a pivotal letter that helps set into motion the revolution. VIP Fan Auctions is offering this screen-used letter, complete with Rackham’s calligraphic handwriting, along with several red seals for authenticity. ‘WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE SOMETHING SHINY?’

Captain Flint wanted a war. John Silver wanted love. Captain Jack Rackham (Toby Schmitz) wanted to a legacy – and as much as the other two legends, he may well be the pirate who saved Nassau. Throughout the course of Black Sails, Rackham’s defining quality was loyalty to those he loved and respected – Anne Bonny, Charles Vane, and even Blackbeard. And when all was said and done, he was the man who restored pirate rule over Nassau. As Rackham himself said, “What’s it all for if it goes unremembered? It’s the art that leaves the mark. But to leave it, it must transcend. It must speak for itself. It must be true.” VIP Fan Auctions is now offering a signature piece of Rackham’s persona in the form of three of his rings (pictured above) and a necklace he wore in the finale of Black Sails. THE PIRATE BRAND

When you fly the black, the design of your pirate ship’s flag is as important as the branding of any business enterprise – especially when the captain is Jack Rackham. To assist him in his effort, Captain Jack enlisted the talents of a local artist named Charlotte (Angelique Pretorius), who provided him with the sketches that would ultimately define Rackham’s flag design. The set of those screen-used sketches (see photo above) are now available at VIP Fan Auctions to the Black Sails fan who post the winning bid. Click here for more information and photos, and don’t wait too long or someone else may land on the beach to snag it while your attention is directed elsewhere.

CAPTAIN JACK

Jack Rackham (played by Toby Schmitz) has had a colorful career throughout his tenure of Black Sails. Introduced as a member of Charles Vane’s crew, he suddenly found himself a brothel owner and then the unlikely captain of his own crew (despite being temporarily branded a crew-killer by Vane), Rackham deftly walks the line between con man and hero. VIP Fan Auctions is offering the custom-made brown-and-yellow overcoat Rackham wears on-screen during the final season of Black Sails. Click here for photos and more information about the infamous pirate’s coat – and get in on the bidding today!

But act swiftly – just as the Urca gold wouldn’t be on the beach forever, the auction for this piece of Black Sails wardrobe is ending soon!

JACK OF ALL TRADES

Black Sails’ Jack Rackham (Toby Schmitz) may not be the most capable sailor on the high seas, but he is the most shrewd. As the quartermaster to Captain Vane on the Ranger, Rackham provided a voice of reason to an often unreasonable leader and ultimately shows his worth as a businessman by turning around the brothel. As the captain of Colonial Dawn, he brought home the elusive Spanish treasure ship, the Urca de Lima. Needless to say, Rackham is a major player in Black Sails, and VIP Fan Auctions is offering fans an opportunity to claim his custom-made, three-corner pirate hat that he wears on-screen in the fourth and final season of the Starz epic series. Click here for photos and more information, and get in on the bidding today – but hurry because this auction is ending soon!

RACKHAM UP

Credited as the brains behind Captain Vane’s brawn, Jack Rackham (played by Toby Schmitz) is shrewd and charming – though he often finds himself needing to be bailed out of trouble by his beloved Anne Bonny. Eventually, Rackham shows himself to be a capable pirate captain, and VIP Fan Auctions is offering the long coat (pictured above) he wears on-screen in the pivotal second-season finale. Rackham’s custom-designed coat – one of only two received from the Black Sails production) – is brown, grey and dirty from sailing and battle on the high seas and in Nassau. Click here for photos that show the unique craftsmanship that went into creating this authentic piece of pirate lore, more information about the coat – and to get in on the bidding today!

THREE CORNERS

The three-corner pirate hat is a signature piece of any buccaneer’s wardrobe, and the hat worn on-screen in Black Sails by Jack Rackham (Toby Schmitz) is the epitome of pirate fashion. The distressed brown leather hat (pictured above) was built for the high seas and worn in multiple episodes by the quartermaster of the pirate ship Ranger and the eventual captain of Colonial dawn. The hat is obviously lucky as Rackham successfully found the Urca gold and survived numerous battles alongside Charles Vane and Anne Bonny. THE ROCK-STAR PIRATE

Life on the high seas doesn’t offer much protection from the elements, and the Mediterranean sun can play havoc with a pirate’s vision. While sunscreen wouldn’t be invented until the 1930s, sunglasses were already a fashion statement and a necessity, and the unique pair of shades worn on-screen by the stylish pirate captain Jack Rackham (played by Toby Schmitz) in a first-season episode of Black Sails are currently available to the fan who places the winning bid. While Rackham’s sideburns are more impressive than his fighting skills, it’s his wit, intelligence and style that makes him attractive to his beloved Anne Bonny, who more than makes up for his shortcomings.
