Despite his status as a fictional being, Isaac Mendez (played by Santiago Cabrera) is one of the most famous artists of his generation – and the fact that his paintings predict the future made him a visionary in more ways than one. He even predicted his own untimely death at the hands of Sylar (Zachary Quinto). One of his final works (pictured above, left, next to the actual scene), an unfinished painting of Peter Petrelli (Milo Ventimiglia) is now available at VIP Fan Auctions. Painted on canvas and one of three unfinished pieces by Isaac Mendez, the painting is a reproduction of the original created by Heroes’ behind-the-scenes artist Tim Sale that was used in production of the series. Heroes’ future-telling artist Isaac Mendez (Santiago Cabrera) was featured in only 17 episodes of Heroes before he sealed his own fate by painting his own death – but his stunning artwork remains indelibly linked to the series. Zachary Quinto is at the top of his game. Having just wrapped the supremely creepy season of American Horror Story: Asylum and poised to return to the big screen for a second go-round as Mr. Spock in the rebooted Star Trek franchise, it can be difficult to remember that his career exploded as Sylar on Heroes. While the “Hiro in the Future” issue of Isaac Mendez’s 9^th Wonders comic book probably isn’t going to fetch the $2.1 million that actor Nicolas Cage’s copy of Action Comics #1 (the first appearance of Superman) was sold for at an online auction last November, but it’s still an amazing piece of pop culture history!
