With the tension on Breaking Bad hitting a fevered pitch heading into its fourth season (which premieres July 17 on AMC), The New York Times praised the series in a July 6 article titled “The Dark Art of Breaking Bad” (and in print in the NYT Sunday magazine on July 10 in an article titled “Art of Darkness”) during which series creator Vince Gilligan commented on the role karma ultimately plays in the series:

“If there’s a larger lesson to ‘Breaking Bad,’ it’s that actions have consequences,” Gilligan told the publication… I feel some sort of need for biblical atonement, or justice, or something,” he said between chews. “I like to believe there is some comeuppance, that karma kicks in at some point, even if it takes years or decades to happen.” To read the entire article, click here.
