Vikings were simply built tougher than other humans in the eighth century. They sailed raging seas, fought to the death and drank their weight in mead as they raided and ransacked their way across the kingdoms of Europe. Their depiction on The History Channel’s Vikings is brutal and carnal, bloody and muddy, dangerous and beautiful. Even the Vikings toys are haggard – as evidence by Oleg of Novgorod’s storytelling, knife-wielding puppet (pictured, left) featured in multiple episodes of the sixth season (click here for photos and more information). The wood and fabric marionette is 34-in. tall and includes a removable gold-and-black costume.
